About Us
Rhodos Aeroclub started in 1974 with a Cessna 152. A couple of years later this aircraft was destroyed while on the ground by a storm. The present day club was restarted in 1986 with the purchase of piper Archer SX-AMG from Switzerland. This aeroplane has also had a couple of ground based close encounters and Piper warrior SX-AOY (original N38156) was brought from Chicago and placed on the Greek register in 1991 as an additional plane. Today the club has around 50 members enjoying both planes, regular meetings and the joys of flying in the Greek Islands.
Once again this summer as part of our responsibilities to the island community members of the aeroclub will be flying firespotting sorties. The major summer fire of 2008 was first reported by the President of the aeroclub - Thomas Vervilis.
Recent News
Both aircraft are well equiped VFR planes with double NAVCOMS, VOR, ADF and mode C. Both make excellent, stable training platforms and SX-AMG in particular is a robust island tourer.
